Machine Knit Edgings

A 2, 3, or 4 STITCH CORD
Cast on 2, 3 or 4 sts K. 1 row. Push in left part button (or set machine to knit 1 row and not knit the next). Move carriage back & forth until required length.
B SHELL EDGING
Needle selection

Hand cast on. Knit 2 rows. Put needle marked * into H.P (holding position). Knit 4 rows. Put needle marked * back into W.P (working position) Knit 2 rows
C TINY FLAT SHELL

Hand cast on. Knit 2 rows. Put needle marked * into H.P. Knit 4 rows. Put needle marked * back into W.P. Knit 2 rows
D FLAT SINGLE SHELL

Hand cast on. Knit 2 rows. Put needle marked * into H.P. Knit 6 rows. Put needle marked * back into W.P Knit 2 rows.
E WIDE BRAID

Hand cast on. Knit 2 rows. Put needles marked * into H.P Knit 4 rows. Put needles marked * back into W.P Knit 2 rows
F BIAS KNITTING
Hand cast on 14 (or required no of sts) at extreme left of machine. Do I row.
* With carriage at left, dec 1 st on left and bring out 1 needle at right hand end.
Knit 2 rows * Repeat from * to * until work is required length. Work moves across needle bed, ending up at the extreme right of knitter. If work is still not long enough at this point, take sts off machine on multiple transfer tools or waste knitting. Put work back on machine at extreme left and continue as before.
G CROCHET LOOK EDGING

H NARROW DOUBLE SHELL
Folded over to enclose edge

Hand cast on. Knit 2 rows. Put needles marked * into H.P Knit 4 rows. Put needles marked * back into W.P Knit 2 rows
I SMALL FLOWER
Cast on 20 sts. Knit 2 rows. Put every 4 th st into H.P Knit 5 rows. Knit 1 row Tension 10. Thread yarn through sts and pull up tight to form flower.
Variation – Knit first 2 rows in contrast, then change to main – or – knit the last row (T.10) in a contrasting colour.
