I have my double bed knitting machine all set up. Yesterday oldgummy and I went through via the telephone and managed to figure out that to do rib, you move the top bed carriage across and then the bottom carriage. And repeat. I made a lovely sample. The carriages are not connected/joined together in anyway. What i didn't like though was the cast on method described in the instruction book. Its called bound off cast on. Is there another way to cast on???

 FORMULA FOR ROUND YOKES

Try this formula as a sample then use it to suit yourself. Ideal to use with a fairisle pattern, any card can be used, but experiment to find the best kind. Start with a card which has about 40 rows to the pattern

Cast on 100 sts and K 10 rows in normal st.st tension. Starting from the centre, transfer every 16 th st onto next needle. Put 16 th needle into N.W.P (non working position). Decrease tension 1 dot and knit *6 rows.

How to avoid holes when partial knitting.

1	On opposite side of carriage, put required number of sts into holding position. Knit across, then bring yarn under the inside needle in holding position, so that the yarn will go over the shank of the needle when you knit the next row.

2	On same side of carriage, bring 1 needle into holding position before knitting the row. This means that the yarn will self-wrap over the shank of the needle. It is a nice quick method of partial knitting, and ...

201.Hi brish I too have been hand knitting, but did have a play on the knitting machine today, trying out a few new ideas. I too have a new grandchild on the way, although not expected until Dec. Have you been doing lots for your "new arrival"? I've been told not to do too much as they've still got so much stuff left from the last baby, but you can't let the new arrival have NO new outfits, can you?

151.barb - I bought one on here recently, had awful trouble setting it up, and finally got in touch with a lady from the nz machine knitters society, and luckily she was expert, lived nearby and came and sorted it all out for me - no charge - BUT, she said I had paid far too much for it (which I didn't think I had) and said they often have them to give away! You could check out their website and see what they have available, but you do need to be a member to take advantage of any give-aways!

1.***Knitting Machine Thread***

A few weeks ago i bought a knitting machine off here, its just a basic one but its really neat and i just love it...and then blow me down, while cleaning out some space up stairs, theres another one, but this one is a double bed one with punchcards and does lots of fancy things which im not sure about yet, but i thought maybe with all the interest in knitting machines lately i would start a thread!!!
